ERP Cloud Computing
What is the cloud?
Hardware and software no longer have to be purchased and operated by the company itself. IT can now also be rented in many areas. The data and applications are no longer located on your company's local computer, but the ERP in the cloud, meaning that you rent a service in a remote data center and someone operates the service for you there. However, even if many users and decision-makers still often think so, this does not mean that the data is stored unsecured in the network so that anyone can access it. It simply means that your data is no longer stored directly with you, but is stored externally. Of course, you always have access to your data. The advantages of the cloud solution are greater flexibility, scalability and significantly lower costs, as you no longer need your own server structure.
In your private life, too, there are certainly some examples where you (perhaps unknowingly) use a cloud service. Do you have a Dropbox account, for example? Then you are using a cloud service. If you own an Apple device, you probably use the iCloud. This is also a cloud service. Even the software giant Adobe now only offers its Creative Suite products, such as Photoshop or InDesign, on a rental basis as Creative Cloud, as the trend is moving away from purchased software towards cloud offerings. So there are both paid cloud services and free ones.
However, when choosing your cloud provider, make sure that all relevant security regulations are met. Incidentally, Germany has the strictest security regulations in the world, which is why many companies opt for a cloud "Made in Germany", such as ownERP.
Cloud types and software as a service
There are three different types of cloud computing: Infrastructure as a service, platform as a service and software as a service. These are differentiated according to the depth of outsourcing.
SaaS is the most comprehensive cloud service model, which can range from the outsourcing of a single application to the outsourcing of the entire company IT. In this case, the applications and data are located in the cloud and are therefore completely outsourced to the cloud provider's servers. The user rents the software from the Internet as required as "software on demand" and only pays for the modules actually used. This makes it very cost-effective for the user, which means that this is the most frequently used software module. The range of SaaS solutions from the cloud extends from office solutions to complete business software for CRM and ERP.

Software Hosted in Germany
The seal "Software Hosted in Germany" is aimed at software manufacturers who offer solutions that can be used via the Internet.
It distinguishes particularly secure software that can be used via the Internet. The software and data are hosted in a data center in Germany; the software and data do not leave Germany.
